visa conversion from visitor to dependent from home country

Post by farrukh » Wed Jan 26, 2011 1:57 pm

Hello there all

I have a specific question regarding dependent visa. I am on Tier 1 ( general) visa and going to complete my 5 years this October. My Fiance is coming to UK on visitors visa of 6 months (for her PLAB exam). We are planning to go back to Pakistan after her PLAB i.e. end of April and get married over there. And than apply for her dependent visa from there.

Someone told us that her she cant change her visa category as my dependent because she already got Visitors visa valid till mid of June.

I just wanted to ask that is it true that we have to wait till June before she can apply for a dependent visa?

hope to hear from you guys soon.

Cheers

Hi there

Thanks for your reply. I think I havent written clearly what i wanted to ask. Sorry about that.

My query was that she is planning to apply from within Pakistan as we are getting married this April. But she already got a visiting visa stamped on her passport for 6 months which is going to expire in June. So the question was do we have to wait to apply for a dependent visa till the visiting visa is expired or it doesnt matter?

Thanks for your warning in advance, all i can do is to complete my paperwork and let them decide as its a geniune case.

Cheers

It doesn't matter. She may apply when she wishes to and can.

the only problem can come from the fact that at the time she applies, your marriage will only be a few days old, that can raise eyebrows, unless if you can prove that your relationship has subsisted for over two years
