Hello,
I'm an American citizen. I have been over in the UK for three months this Friday. When I booked my trip to come see my boyfriend (he lives in Scotland and is a UK citizen) I used as Irish airline, when I got my first stamp it was in Dublin. When I got to the UK I located a Border Official and asked them what to do about the fact that my trip was booked for more than 90 days, as I was going by the UK information that a visitor can stay generally up to six months... I didn't understand I would be stamped for the trip in Ireland that operates on a 90 day visa. It is called an "entry through Ireland order" the officer said, she advised me to go to France for a day towards my 90 days to come back to the UK for the last three weeks of my trip. I did that. I went to Paris on sunday and came back Monday. They gave me a hard time, even though I explained to them I was told to do that and showed them proof that I had a pre-booked ticket to go home Feb 21st. They demanded my boyfriends phone number and called him, after speaking to him they stamped me. The official that processed me came over and said she gave me a stamp which says "entry to leave for six months" but she said she informed that I am scheduled to leave Feb 21st and it would be in my best interest to. My question is, I want to come back and see my boyfriend again in 5 or 6 months. Because they stamped me Jan 31 which would expire in six months will I be denied entry again in say August if I am back in the US on Feb 21st? I'm only staying three weeks of this six month stamp. Will they see that I left for 5-6 months before I come back or is that stamp going to keep me from seeing my boyfriend again for a year? I have seen you need to wait the same length as the visa to re-enter but as I will be home this month to the US and by the time I want to return to the UK I will have been gone for six months from the UK will I will be okay to return? sorry it's so lengthy but the whole situation stressed me out the other day, they gave me a hard time when one of the border officials told me going to France and coming back for three weeks wouldn't be an issue.
Thank you if you have any information.
