marriage certificate

Post by JWLC » Tue Feb 01, 2011 10:14 pm

If I married my husband in my own country(outside UK), and had my spouse visa for 2 years stampted and stated - spouse of Mr xxxx 19xx, is this enough as proof of marriage.
I now have IRL and about to apply to become british
I have my marriage certificate, but it's in foreign language.

Do I need to go to my country's foreign embassy to get this legalised and then go to legalisation office in London to get a further legalisation, rather complecated, since I was allowed into this country as a spouse in the first place, surly I 've proved enough then.

Please help

I have my marriage certificate, but it's in foreign language.
You need to get a certified translation, and submit not just the original certificate but also the certified translation into English. There is no requirement for any involvement of your country's embassy.

Can I ask, what country are we talking about?

Do I have to find some professional people to do the translation? What about the layout, does it have to be in the exact formate as it is on my foreign certificate (booklet type).
Of course, I can translate it all by myself, would it be good enough?
