Getting married in Europe but Fiance has no documents

Post by harv » Fri Feb 04, 2011 4:34 pm

Hi

I have a question on my friend's behalf, here are the details:

1) Friend is British Citizen with no problems in Financial and accomodation requirements, looking from the Spouse visa requirements.

2) Fiance is an Asylum Seeker in Belgium, currently waiting for the outcome of the Asylum claim.

My questions is, if there is any possibility that they can get married and the fiance in Belgium can some how get entry clearence and they can live in the UK?

Once married, there should be no problem for the fiance to apply for a spouse visa.

Has the fiance come to UK before?

If not, then I do not see any problem.

If yes, and it was illegal entry or overstaying, there still shouldnt be much of a problem unless they used deception to gain entry or stay.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

1) Since the fiance is currently waiting for the asylum claim outcome, she does not have any documents to use for travel i.e. passport etc.

2) No idea if the marriage can be performed on legal point of view as she does not have any documents to get the marriage registered.

3) Fiance has never been to the UK, this is the first she has ever entered in a European Country (Belgium)

4) Fiance have no documents, so will it possible to some how get the fiance moved to the UK? is there any other way to get hold of some sort of documents to register for a marriage during the asylum case of her?

I am unsure if there is any way possible to get his fiance come to the UK, my friend is not fussed about where they can get married either in Belgium or UK. Any ideas guys?

She will need a passport to travel to the UK.

I am not sure of marriage procedures in Belgium, but she will definitely need some sort of ID document, more than likely a passport.

To apply for the spouse visa once married, she will need to submit a passport with the application.

She could go to the embassy of her country and ask how to go about getting a passport.
