Hi,
My girlfriend and I are thinking of getting married and I would like some opinions and suggestions from people with knowledge and experience on the subject.
I have concerns on the credibility of our marriage application; first of all we are very young, we are both 21 and second of all my girlfriend’s immigration status in the Uk is not very strong. She is an asylum seeker and her case is very weak. She has been in a detention centre and has been given deportation orders twice but stopped by her solicitor.
To be honest I’m not in the best situation to get married. I currently live with my parents and doing a degree in International Business, although I’m on my placement year and working full time for the government and earning £17.000. My girlfriend and I have never lived together but after she and her mum were released from the detention centre, they lived in my house for almost 6 months after the court accepted my dad to take responsibility for them.
We are planning to get married in Colombia where we are both from (I’m a British Citizen) as apparently we cannot get married here, I wasn’t aware that for her to get her visa to return to the Uk would be such a complicated application.
I have a few questions;
1) My girlfriend is the dependant on her asylum application; her mum is the main applicant. Would her mum’s asylum application be compromised if my girlfriend goes to Colombia to get married?
2) Could we get married here?
3) What document would we need for the visa application? I have everything to proof that we are a couple and that we have been together for many years. We have photos, letters, e-mails, videos, etc…
Thanks in advanced
