For the Moderators

Post by jes2jes » Thu Jun 01, 2006 6:18 pm

Hi All:
I received my IA recently and CHC London requested some extra documents. I have not taken the above exams although I am not English. I am from an English speaking country though. I think I included a TOEFL results slip I took many years ago before entering university. All my academic work has been done in England and the US.
I have sent all documents they requested already.

My question is, do I need to take IELTS although they did not request for it? :?: I just want to know if it makes any difference now since if they needed it they would have requested for it in the first place.
Just to be on the safe side really. :P

Many thanks for your help.

Visa officer will assess your English language proficeincy based on the information you had provided initially. This is Speculative. It is upto visa officer whatever points he gives.Since he has not asked now then it seems that he is satisfied with the information you had provided.Hold your horses. If required he will ask you.

Rely,
Thanks so much for your assurance. I picked up from another forum that currently IELTS is mandatory but sometime ago it wasn't. I believe when I applied in 2004 it was not at that period. I claimed maximum points in that category so I wanted to make sure I get all 16 points as claimed.
Do you know if additional points can be earned afterr IA? i.e. work exeperience and educational qualifications? I did update them recently with employment history and some qualifications.

Thanks for your response.

It was not mandatory in 2004 or today. But if the visa officer ask for this then it is mandatory. No choice.Since you have been asked by them to give few documents (less IELTS) therefore you do not write this exam.
To score additional points?? Learn French? Get Masters degree?? Get a canadian spouse?? Get a work permit??
All easier said then done.

Rely,
Thanks for your response. I am currently confident that since they did not ask for IELTS, they are satisfied with the proof I provided.
I did send them an update of two years work experience since I last filed and some IT certification of one year duration.

Fortunately, I am already married to a lovely woman!
French, I will look into that since my spouse is very fluent in that but my knowlege is basic from GCSE level.
Work permit: I am looking at that angle too but I believe I will be fine.

Thanks
