tier 2 and ukba statement regarding new rules

Post by arsenal49 » Sun Feb 06, 2011 1:22 am

hello everyone.

my question relates to following statement on ukba website

Code: Select all

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsfragments/35-t1-t2-annual-limits
Tier 2

The Tier 2 (General) route will be subject to a limit of 20,700 places for 2011/12.

This limit will not apply to:

* in-country applications from those already in the UK;
am i right to assume that all in-country applicants' employer (e.g. psw holder) will get COS after April 1, 2011?

cheers

Yes, that is my question also... I understand it will be so. The students from inside the country, current psw holders etc. would not be limited from my understanding.

This makes sense, in a way, since the aim of controls is to lower immigration to country, and these people have already lived/worked in UK for number of years. Exceptions are also made for ICT, and over 150k salaries from outside.

I think you are right about all employers being given CoS for in-country applications. Was this a very recent development?
Also is this applicable only after 6th April? I want to switch from PSW to Tier 2 and do you know if the current rules still inlcude me in the interim limit?

I think this is only after April... at the moment, you would be under interim limits, which means very high reqs for salary to even get cos.

New rules will actually be better for me than interim limit.
