help with work permit advice

Post by fox2005eng » Mon May 29, 2006 7:44 pm

I came to the UK on a student visa 2004 to study Bsc mechatronics engineering as a final year offer in a UK university. Now I have my degree with 2:2 and I have applied after to the engineering graduate scheme for 1 year visa to get a work experience as my course in the shortage list. I’m Egyptian national and my work experience visa will run out on October this year. I’m working now in a contract as technician at a big engineering place for about 6 month, and my salary is around 12k a year. My question is can I extend my training visa anther year because I want to have more time looking for better job allow me to have work permit?, the other question is, I been offered to make a share company the import and export engineering materials from Egypt and anther countries to the UK with someone already have the right to stay in the UK. He wants me to either work wit him or be partner. As he will be here managing the company then he won’t be able to go Egypt and the anther places to trace work, plus he is not an engineer. Mainly it is going to be me and him only in the office. Is this going to help me? What do u think about this situation and can I apply for any of these changes on here in the UK without going back Egypt? Sorry for this long email and hope any one can help.

Thanks

You cannot extend the Leave to Remain under the SEGS. You must either have a work permit or HSMP approval by that date. If you intend to work as an innovator / business person you need to explore the rules what you have to do in order to qualify. I am not sure but I think you should be able to switch to those categories without leaving the UK - check the IND Home Office website on that.
