international student's dependent switch to difrent category

Hi,

I would like to know if someone is dependent of international student (wife / husband) and he / she has been on student visa befor, ist possible for he/she to switch to Student visa or HSMP or sponcored workpermit visa ?

I don't know about switching to a student visa but for a work permit you would need to leave the UK prior to your employer applying. For HSMP you can apply for stage 1 then you'd need to leave to obtain entry clearance.

so basically you are saying that its not possible to switch to work visa or HSMP without leaving the country ?

what does stage 1 of HSMP mean ?
