NCS Experience

overall its was really straight forward and it definitely was worth it.

One point that I had to confirm a few times was regarding the 5 year residency. I still have another 10 days to go to complete 4 years on WP and 1 year on ILR. This is because of course you get ILR after 3y and 11m. So even though I have been on ILR for 12 months now, the over all WP+ILR is < 5 years.

I told him that but apparently as long I was in the country before the work permit (as I was as a student), it doesn't matter. I was really unsure about this and I had to confirm with him quite a few times up to a point where it got a bit embarassing :)

Apart from that it was great!

sywahu, congratulations it all worked out so well ... and quickly. Hope you enjoy your Citizenship Ceremony.

As regards what you posted on 24th May :-
One point that I had to confirm a few times was regarding the 5 year residency.
-: I think you are referring to the need for the applicant to have been in the UK legally exactly five years before IND receive the Naturalisation requirement. Yes, that is definitely a rule .... and IND have no discretion to waive that rule .... and having ILR for at least one year is another totally separate rule.

thanks folks.

i must say these guys are really efficient compared to other eu naturalisation processes. my friend in ireland applied 2 years ago and is still waiting which is normal over there! i think NCS don't officially admit it but applying thru them does effect the application times and is going to become the norm very soon.

on to the next stage of applying for the passport i guess. and well in time before the new rules for first time passports comes into effect in october. :D
