Timelines for Citizenship

Post by aqua75 » Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:35 pm

I would like to understand the timelines to be eligible for attaining British Citizenship. I was eligible for my ILR in Nov 10. But due to personal reasons I applied for ILR only in Feb 11.

I understand that I will have to wait for one year to apply for British citizenship. Is the one year from when I was eligible for ILR or when I got it stamped. Will I be eligible for my British Citisenship in Feb 12 or Nov 11.

Because you are only entitled to ILR when your application has been approved (as in theory it may be refused), your one year will start counting from the date of the ILR stamp and not when you first COULD HAVE applied.

Good luck!
