Should I apply after april 6 to get COS?

Post by jjrajesh » Sat Feb 26, 2011 2:58 pm

Hi friends...I am switching from PSW to Tier2 in-country...Visa expires in April third week... Working with a company for 6 months in the same role with a salary 40+ k....but the company has applied for the sponsor licence only last week...UKBA takes 4 weeks to allot licence approximately...How much time it will take to issue unrestircted COS to the company, considering the facts the company is A-rated, salary 40+ k and the job comes under shortage occupation list ( 2132 - software professionals)

Assuming the company gets the licence before March end and requests for COS after April 6, what might be the timeline before my visa expiry on April 16th? (Am I missing something here?) Do I have enough time?

I request the members and experts in this forum to express their opinion which would be of great help.

Thanks for your advice...

unrestricted cos will take next to no time to be issued....

you just need to make sure your job is compliant with the (new) code of practice

cheers

Thanks for your reply arsenal49...But COP is immaterial for PSW holders applying in-country with unrestricted COS, 6 months job completion and reqd salary level. Please clarify.
Switching from a post-study category
You can claim 30 points if you have a Certificate of Sponsorship and are switching from:87.
the Tier 1: Post Study category; or•
the Fresh Talent: Working in Scotland Scheme; or•
the International Graduate Scheme (or its predecessor, the Science and Engineering • Graduate Scheme);
• AND
if you have worked for your sponsor for at least six months immediately before the date • of your application. You must be applying to continue in the same job you are doing on the date of the application.
AND
if you are applying from inside the United Kingdom.•
If you do not meet these requirements, you will need to claim points for sponsorship in 88. another way, for example if your sponsor has completed a resident labour market test.
Your Certificate of Sponsorship reference number is used to claim points. If you are 89. claiming points for switching from a post-study category, you must provide the following additional evidence that you have worked for your sponsor for at least six months.
D
ocuments we require as evidence of sponsorship
EITHER
i) Payslips covering the full six consecutive months
OR
ii) Personal bank or building society statements covering the full six consecutive months
OR
iii) Building society pass book
Thanks.

what is COP?

everyone must follow code of practice. doesn't matter if you are switching from work permit or psw!

once you got cos, then you can make an app next day fir tier 2!

cheers
