PR acquired, where can i travel as a tourist?

Post by lemondeestamoi » Sun Feb 27, 2011 4:44 pm

hi,
finally i had my PR approved, now the first thing i want to do is get out and see the world!

however i notice that acquiring PR doesnt mean squat for embassies around the world, all i want to do is have a nice week away as a tourist in ANY European country.

after quick search they all ask for Schengen visa (which means waiting and applying and begging etc ....)

Spain and France have up to 3 weeks waiting just for appointment!

have you had a recent experience with applying for a schengen visa? if so was it relatively easy?

Unfortunately, if you are a visa national, obtaining PR (via the EU route) or ILR (via the UK route) doesn't exempt you from needing a (Schengen) visa unless you are travelling with or joining your EU spouse in the country of destination.

One more year and you may apply for BC and be done with it!
