Child born in pakistan

I was wondering if someone could help me with a question I have please.

I am a british citizen who was born in the UK and got married in pakistan over a year ago and my wife has had a baby in pakistan a month ago but she found out that her visa had been approved 2 days before the baby was born but obviously at that time she could not travel so the baby was born in pakistan and they are still there at this time.

The mother of the baby is a pakistani citizen and has never been to the UK before.

So my question is that now we have to do the visa process again for the baby and in which way will it have to be done? Can it be done by right of abode or will it have to be done in the same way as I done the spouse visa?

I hope someone can help me with this information. I really appreciate it.

Since you are British by birth, your child, born outside the UK, is British by descent. You may apply for a British passport for your child.

In the absence of a British passport, it would be appropriate for a British citizen to apply for a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode, to be placed in a Pakistan Passport.

I have checked the UkinPakistan website and it says it will take 7-8 months for new british passports to be made which is a very long time.

So if there is any quicker way to do it please could you tell me?

This information that I read on the UKinPakistan website is below

"From October 2010 passports for British Nationals will no longer be printed in Pakistan. They will be printed in our Regional Passport Processing Centre in Hong Kong. This means that it will take up to 4 weeks to get a passport renewed. Non-straight-forward renewal applications may take longer. First-time applications will continue to take longer - currently between seven to eight months. "

Thanks I have found the form it is called vaf7. I need to know whos signatures will be needed on the right of abode application form as I am in the UK and my wife and baby are in pakistan so I cannot be there to sign any forms so how will it work?

Also I am confused as to what supporting documents are needed with this form as it says "marriage certificate" and then it says "marriage certificate of parents". This is confusing as the baby is a newborn and therefore obviously not married?

I really appreciate your help.

Since the child is the applicant, the form has to be filled on his behalf. Imagine that the child is physically holding the pen and writing. The only exception to that is that either parent need to sign the form using his/her normal signature.

Hi guys, I am in the same situation as Wah007.

I am a UK citizen by birth, my wife is currently in Pakistan undergoing an appeal for the rejection of her settlement visa for the UK. This should be wrapped up this month.

However, we are expecting our first child in June 2011. I wont have the time to to apply for the British Passport as it take 6 months, so I wanted to know if i can apply for the Right of Abode.

Wah007, did your situation get sorted? Did you manage to get the right of abode for your child?

Any help or advise would be highly appreciated.
