Tier 2 Dependant Questions

Hi! My wife is in the UK on a Tier 2 visa. I have a couple questions. Is there any way for me to get my dependant visa while in the UK, or will I have to return to the US and apply from there. Also, what is the requirement for maintenance if her employer is an A-level sponsor and they are willing to write a letter of guarantee for my stay as well? Will I need to prove I have the maintenance funds, or will the letter be enough? Thanks so much!

What is your immigration status in the UK?
