Visa Overstay

Post by rex1090 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:59 pm

I have a question...
I knew a guy who came to Ireland from the US as a tourist last year and overstayed his tourist visa by a few months. When he left Ireland, he was not reprimanded in the airport here or in the UK (he had a stopover there). Absolutely nothing was said to him about his overstay.
Does that mean this person can re-enter Ireland or the UK without any problem in the future. Could this person have a ban on their passport without knowing it?

I know people who have done the same (from the US) and didn't have any trouble re-entering Ireland again on a tourist visa. If he's ever in a situation to be applying for permission to work or stay longer than the 90 day tourist visa they might ask about it or give hardship though.
