Question about extending stay in the UK

Post by fayez11 » Sun Mar 06, 2011 8:48 pm

I am MSc student at the university of Huddersfield .
I joined the course in January 2010 and I will finish in 31/5/2011.

I went to my country to renew my Visa and the end of the CAS number will be on 31/5/2011.
The visa application centre renewed my visa until 7/6/2011.

The problem is the my graduation day will be between 12-17/7/2011 and my visa will end on 7/6/2011 and I want to attend the graduation day and wait for my result I also want to apply for PhD and upgrade my scholarship.

Please is it possible to tell me what I can do to extend my stay in the UK until the end of July 2011?

Is it possible to have 2 different visas?
Or what can I do when my visa expire when i am staying in the UK?
thank you for helping me in advance.

You should have been given an additional 4 months after your course because it is over 12 months long. The embassy have only given you a week because they think your course is less than 6 months long presumably because they have looked at the start date on your CAS which can only be a date in the future rather than the actual start date of Jan 2010.

Did your university make the actual start date of your course clear on the Cas and did you put the actual start date on your form? If so you could ask ukba to amend the end date as it is their error.

If the actual start date was not mentioned on the Cas you could ask for a new Cas and apply for a further extension from within the UK. Do you have an international student advisor you could speak to at your university?

You said you want to join another course which is writing up thesis (MS/Phd) in your relavant field. In most universities you can start your thesis immediately after completing your post-graduate degree if you are interested to do so. So speak to your university admission department and get enrolled on that program if available, and apply for visa extension with new course CAS as usual.

I doubt he will have time to do this when he only has a week after he finishes his course before his visa ends. He is unlikely to even have his results by then.
