Need Confirmation about switching from PSW to Tier-1 (Gen)

Hi All,

I would appreciate your help if you can confirm my situation.

I have Tier-1 PSW since April 2009 and my intention is to switch to Tier-1 General.
I realised that I have been answering the question "What type of application are you making?" as "Switching your current immigration category in the United Kingdom"
therefore it was calculating my points based on the new rules, which I was falling short of.

But when I select "Extending your stay in the United Kingdom" and give my date of application for my current Tier-1 (PSW) as April 2009,
it calculates my points based on the previous rules (Point calculation rules prior to April 2010) and it shows me as eligible to apply for tier-1

Would you please confirm that it is ok for me to apply for tier-1?

I was thinking that I am not eligible and I was trying to find ways of getting tier-2.

If you are applying from PSW, then you are switiching the category. so in that case, if the Point based calculator is showing that you are not eligible, then unfortunately, yo cannnot apply.

You cannot apply as "Extending your stay in the United Kingdom", since your current permission to stay in the UK is under PSW category of PBS.

You have to switch the category.

Thank you for your reply. Those two options are very ambiguous and they confused me. I will continue looking for tier-2
