Contacting INIS by someone with a severe Hearing Loss

Post by Malika » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:47 pm

Hi,

I am a new member but I have been visiting this site for long because I find it quite informative.

My main problem is finding out where Iam in the process.
I have a severe hearing loss thus cannot use phone so I requested a social worker to call on mybehalf. After being kept on hold for over 30 minutes, we decided to leave it at that.
I have also tried emailing Department of Justice but no reply.
My application was in mid 2009. I have refugee Status.

Any advice? Appreciation in advance!

If someone calls on your behalf, please prepare them for the long wait on the phone. You can write by regular mail but be prepared for their standard letter that tells you next to nothing about your application....
...though it tarries, it shall surely come...

Thank for the reply!

Wrote to them too, got a reply that amounted to 'next to nothing' as you said.
Some members here have been lucky to go through. It would be really hard for me to request the social worker to hold for so long, since she has other people to help.

Anyway, will just have to wait and see!

Hi Malika, even when you get through to INIS regarding your app they will fob your helper off by saying that you have to give them a written and signed permission that such and such a person will be ringing on your behalf and asking questions. Emailing doesn't get any response from them and as you know standard letter gets a saved template response. regards.
