Tier 1 (PSW) to Tier 4

Post by megasummer » Tue Mar 08, 2011 11:00 pm

Hi there

I am doing PhD and my visa status is tier 1 (Post-study work). It will be expired this month. So I am planning to apply tier 4 student visa. I have finished 1 year of my PhD. So if I apply for tier 4 student visa, do I need to apply as a initial applicantion or application for a further period (stated on the tier 4 application form section L4)?

Would you please help me regarding this matter as soon as possible.

Thanks.

Summer

Initial application. Note you do not qualify for the reduced maintenance level as an established student even though you are a year into your course because you don't currently have leave as a student or under tier 4

Thanks for reply.

But I got the CAS letter stating " We have assessed the student's ability to continue with his course on the basis of his academic progress to date"

If I am going to apply as a initial application do I need to change the CAS letter as it mentioned to continue with the course.

It would be a great help if you please help me with an right information.

Regards

No. The question on the form is about whether you are making an initial tier 4 application- i.e. Switching from another category or whether you are making a subsequent application and if so whether you qualify for the reduced maintenance level. The fact that you have already started your course whilst on tier 1 psw is not material.

So do I need to submit my previouse educational qualification with initial application? Although my CAS letter haven't mentioned anything.

Many thanks
