Well yes, those questions need to be answered, even though they are not asking for evidence in support.

Do appreciate the wording of the declaration at the end of the form. In signing that you are authorising HMRC to supply information to UKBA, and my understanding is that UKBA actually have computer links with HMRC, and can feed in your tax reference and see, hopefully, that your tax affairs are up-to-date.

John you can see our previous chat in my previous post regarding my problem with self assessment, i have not received the self assessment statement yet so hence not paid any tax, but have been paying NI contribution.

So JOHN would that be a problem? i am so worried now

As long as the tax has been paid I would not expect a problem. If the tax has not been paid, that begs the question, why?

As i was having difficulties filing my tax online they advised me to file the paper form which i did last month and they did say that as i am filing late and i will liable to pay the penalty, shall i just call they payment line and pay the rough amount, or shall i write a letter to the case worker of my naturalisation regarding my dealings and arrangements with HMRC?

ferrarilondon, it is a Self Assessment system, are you saying that you did not self assess? The ability not to self assess disappears a lot earlier than the 31st January deadline date.

I am a Tax Consultant. If you PM me with the relevant data, particularly the net business profit after capital allowances, I shall calculate the amount payable.

But I don't understand. Earlier you told us "I am applying for Naturalisation as married to British Citizen" and asked questions about how to complete the form AN, but now you say ".... shall I write a letter to the case worker of my naturalisation regarding my dealings and arrangements with HMRC?"

What is going on?

I tell you the whole story again. I registered myself as a self employed on 15th july 2009, i tried to file my tax return for year 2009-2010 on 15th january 2011, i realised that there was problem with my government gateway id and couldnt file online self assessment. so i kept calling HMRC and couldnt get hold of them. finally i got hold of them around 10th feb 2011. the adviser told me that there is a problem with my online account so i should file paper return which i did by 15th feb, i got the proof from royal mail that it was delivered to them.

And yes I am applying as a sppouse of British Citizen, and i am asking all above in regards to section 3.1-3.5
