Can i apply WTC

Post by syediqbal » Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:16 am

Dear Moderators

I am a Pakistani national, recently i was granted ILR on basis of 10 years stay in UK. I am working approximately 36-40 hours and my net income per month is approximately 1000. I have couple of questions please

1: Can i apply working tax credit?

2: If so would it effect me sponsoring my future wife's visa, and would it effect on my naturalisation in about 10 months?

Thank you very much for all of your help, please John if you could shed some light on this.

Thanks

John

You and your wife are entitled to apply jointly, and any application will not have any affect upon any visa application.

However on that amount of income I suspect you might not get anything, so before going to the trouble of applying, suggest you check out this HMRC webpage and see if you might get anything, if indeed you do apply.

Whilst you have given details of your net income, it is the gross income, before deductions, that are of interest to the Tax Credits office.
