I just noticed that my bank statements have my name and transaction history, but the account number has xxxx for all but the last 4 digits. If I get a letter from the bank confirming everything, and it's properly stamped, is this going to be an issue? The bank's system is set up like this, and there is no way for them to change it. Please tell me this is NOT going to be an issue.

there is no need to have the account number. having your name and address on the first page would be enough. and obviously would need stamp and/or the logo of the bank on each page is needed.

thanks for the reply, but I suggest you read the guidance from ukba, as the account number is listed as a requirement.

i meant the account number with xxxx would be enough, no need to have the full account number, obviously you will have the account number on your bank statement but if it ends with xxxx that would be alright since additionally there will be your name and address on it.
ps if you read the guide there is no need to open a subject in here.

Who do you bank with?
Isn't it possible to order bank statements for last 3 months? The bank statements received in post are accepted by UKBA.
Otherwise by submitting bank statements that don't conform to HO guidance, you are just inviting trouble and will be at the mercy of caseworker. As far as guidance is concerned, he/she can reject your application as guidance clearly states that bank statements must show full account number, not partial.

I know but there is nothing the bank can do, they have told me. It's a small, red neck local bank in my home state in the USA.

If thats the case, get your bank to write a letter addressed to UKBA and explain the partial account number on bank statements and to confirm that you had more than £800 or equivalent for more than 90 days. You will be fine.

Yes, thanks, I will just have to have them explain in the letter. I am sure it will be ok...(fingers crossed). Just think it is ridiculous that a bank can't give me my financial information in the manner that I want it. I'm going to close the account as soon as I get the visa, for sure. Small town red necks.

Does your bank have decent market share. I mean if UKBA guy picks up the phone, will he be able to talk to them straight away or he has to spend half a day to get hold of someone?
If its a reasonable well-respected bank, than im sure they will be able to certify that you bank with them etc. (even with account number issue) but i do see your point... why some banks would not put their customers need on the top of their priority list? is beyond me, especially when there are so many competitors on the same street as them!
hope it works out for you

I'm such a moron. I just realized you don't even need to provide statements as long as you get a letter from the bank clarifying the funds.
