Hi!
I'm currently living outside of the UK (in the US) and will likely get a UK work permit/will move to the UK this Fall. I'm also currently considering applying for the HSMP (I got enough points). I have a few questions:
1) If I'm on the WP for, let's say, a year , and then get the HSMP approval, can this year on WP be considered towards the 4-year long residency requirement? or only time after the HSMP approval can be counted?
2) if I get the HSMP, and then, after 9 month or so, go to the business school in the UK, full-time, will I still be able to keep my HSMP status? if not, would working part-time help?
3) would it be better/faster/easier to wait till I go to the UK on WP and then apply for the HSMP inside of the country, or if I apply now, from the US?
3) for how long will I be able to leave the UK while on the HSMP/within the 4-year LR requirement period in order to be able to keep the status valid? I've heard it's about 2 years, what is the exact period? Will I need to live in the UK (on HSMP) 4 years in a row to be able to apply for the permanent residence?
4) after applying for the permanent residence, how long should I wait to be able to apply for the citizenship? how long approximately does it take to get the citizenship after the application for citizenship is filed?
I'm really new to all this, I'd be very grateful for all your replies!
Thanks a lot!
Ninka.
P.S. I'm looking forward to hearing from you; your board looks really great/full of useful information.
