UK Spouse Visa with Overstay- Apply from France or Australia

Post by Cara-Sydney » Wed Mar 23, 2011 5:12 pm

Hello -

I am preparing to submit a application for a UK spouse visa and wondering if anyone can provide any advice on whether I should submit my application in France or Australia. I was going to return to Australia to submit the application but looking at the estimated visa processing times France has 100% done in 30 days while Australia is 90 days.

But saying that I have a previous overstay in the UK so I assume that even though the time in France is shorter, my application may ultimately take 90 to 120 days no matter where it is done.

My other concern with Australia is that applications will no longer be processed in Canberra but sent to a regional processing centre in Manilla. But no comment has been made as to how this will affect processing times, after all the shift could make processing quicker or even longer. Especially as my application will be submitted in the first month of this change - submitting the form in France which processes a much smaller number of applications, seems far more appealing.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Best Wishes

Cara

Do you have permission to stay in France for longer than 6 months? If not, you cannot submit a visa application from there.
