Help, Where to start?

Ok as the title suggests, we are in a bit of a predicament. I am a UK citizen, I met my girlfriend just over 1 year ago whilst she was studying her master degree on a student visa. Now she is back in her home country, China.

Our plan was to wait another 2 months (then we will have had the maintainence funds in place for 90 days) then apply for the PSW visa. This would give her time to come over and look for a job, or look into setting up our own buisness together.

Now government decides to remove PSW visa....and after checking the entrepreneur visa, seems the UK only want people that are going to invest millions of pounds into our country. Obviously neither of us have a huge amount of money.

A work permit is an option.... but my opinion is its near as damn impossible to get a job from outside a country.

Please can someone advise of some options.

Erm, isn't it 1st April 2011 that these changes are expected to happen?
No one can know for sure what they are going to do exactly, but better keep that in mind!

They have explicitly said that psw will remain open until April 2012.

Sorry, I saw that there's been some new developments after I posted this!

I read somewhere they will only be giving 1000 PSW visa's out to people. giving priority to most skilled individuals. I hope that we get one of those spaces!!

That relates to Tier 1(HSMP programme part) changes... nothign realting to PSW. In short, applying from now till april 2012, you are safe.

You are right, unfortunately, nothing is done about illegals, but genuine skilled people will find it next to impossible to gain employment now.

I am taking psw also before it ends.
