Post by diamondbird » Fri Mar 25, 2011 7:10 pm

Hi.
İm EU citizen, currently living in İreland,Dublin.İ am a student and i am working here as well. For 3 years İ am in relationship with Turkish citizen,so non-EU citizen who need visa to come to İreland. We decided to get married and live in İreland.Would it be more beneficial for us to get married in İreland or in his country? What is the procedure to get married here and what we need to do so he can stay here with me and work in state.?

Is your lovely man here in Ireland - or are you having a long distance relationship? If here, does he have any type of permission to remain? If so why not marry here - it will probably be easier. Or what about your own country? Turkish nationals don't need visa to enter Schengen countries - is that right?

Oh really. Ok, well then just get married in Turkey, if that suits you. Probably be nicer then Ireland anyway
It might be difficult to get a visa for him to visit Ireland. We don't have any such thing as "fiance visa" like they have in other countries. Make sure you have a good doumentary history of your relationship pre marriage, and make sure you have a civil marriage certificate that complies stringently to the Turkish law of marriage. Keep all paperwork relating to the marriage and marriage registration process. Then make a visa app for him (EU Treaty - Spouse) is one of the drop down options in the visa online form. You'll ideally want to show that you have a good few grand in the bank, private health insurance for you and him (or at least a quote for him) and of course show your enrolment in the fully accredited course of study in Ireland. Might help if you were also working even part time. Good luck!
