Are we likely to get a settlement visa?

Post by chris_p » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:04 pm

Hi everyone, just joined the forums.

My wife and I are looking to apply for a settlement visa so she can come and live with me in the UK and I was wondering if I could get some advice on how likely we are to get it based on our currently situation. I will now explain our situation with out writing toooo much.

My wife is a citizen of Pakistan and I am a UK citizen from birth. We first met online and met for the first time at the end of 2008 in the UK (my wife was here on a visit visa at the time).

She spent 3 months here and we saw each other 2 or 3 times a week before she went home. I then went to visit her twice in 2009 and then near the end of 2009 she came to the UK on a visit visa again to live with me for 6 months. During that time we apply to get married which was successful and we got married at the start of 2010. I then went to visit her again in 2010 and since then we have been apart but are in contact every day.

We are now looking for apply for a settlement visa. However I don't have a great job (I earn just over minimum wage and work 44 hours a week). At the moment I am living with me parents but am going to move out soon. Also my wife has never really had a job as her parents have always supported her).

Based on this information do you think our application will have a good chance of success?

Feel free to ask me any questions if I have missed anything out.

Thanks for any help!
