ilr appointment 6 april- new regulations?

Post by troy1111 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 12:15 pm

Hi everyone,
I am going to Sheffield PEO under HSMP JR (5 yrs) - family appointment but I am probably not lucky to have my appointment on 6 April. Besides ending up paying £425 extra, I may be stuck due to new regulations. Would I have to show knowledge of life in UK as well? I am not sure if there are transition arrangements to suit me. Any clues?

Which form you are filling for appointment. Looking at the UKBA site they have yet not released the new version of the form with new requirements.

Also I don't think new settlement rules are approved by the parliament as of now.

Set O form. Called up UKBA, the lady said - watch out for new forms over the weekend or monday. Not too sure about what stage of parliamentary approval they are on.

If you are covered by HSMP JR, then other than paying the higher application fees the new immigration rules do not affect you - neither the criminality threshold nor the income threshold - even if you apply for settlement on/after 06-Apr-11.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
