Bring my mother from india - what public funds?

Post by VikG » Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:09 pm

I want to bring my mother to UK. She is living alone in India and wants to live with me in UK. I have settled in uk and have ILR status for past 20 years. I am a UK resident but indian citzen. I have been paying tax for past 20 years.

My mother has ILR for UK also and I want her to move her fully and wanted to know what funds if any she would be entitled to?

When did your mother obtain her ILR?

Where is she living now?

If she is living outside of the UK how long has she been outside the UK for?

And did your mother send the sponsorship undertaking form signed by you?

http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/resources/en/ ... ponsorform

As I understand it she could claim public funds, but then DWP would chase you and take the money back from you.

You are supposed to support and accommodate her if you sponsored her for her visa to come to the UK.

But, about six months ago you were on a Tier 4 leave!

Life isn't fair, but you can be!
