Written to my MP

Post by blay1 » Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:11 pm

Hi
This may sound very silly but can you please bear with me,
I wrote to my MP expressing my concerns about the change in the immigration laws,he wrote back to me saying he has written to the HO about my concern and he is going to get back to me when he gets a response. I am a bit panicking about this thinking it might affect my application for ILR. Can anybody help me
Thanks

Don't worry about it. This isn't a personally vindictive system. Whether you agree or disagree with the current government, everyone can agree it's far from the likes of Idi Amin. (Though hyperbolic rants of some will state to the contrary.) I wrote my MP voicing my concerns many months back and she responded the same way as yours. She then forwarded me a response from Damian Green (though obviously it was written by his department and just signed by him). It will most likely be a recap of your situation as they find in the system about you (like for me they knew I first entered on another work permit then left and returned on another) and state what you can do based on their information such as at what date you can apply and then reiterate current immigration policy and say there is no guarantee it won't change.
Deep breath. Relax. You won't be penalized for exercising your democratic rights within the law.

Thanks very much for putting my mind at rest.
