EU PR Application

Post by EUspouse82 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 1:10 pm

Hi Folks,

I am wondering if I can get some help here. I moved to Ireland in June 2006 as spouse of a British citizen, we both worked for 2 years till we lost our jobs. Since then, we have both being in college with my spouse doing a Childcare course and myself currently doing a Doctorate degree.

My questions are;

1. Considering the fact we have been out of employment for sometime, will this affect my application? Will the fact we have been in education since then help the application favorably in any form?

2. I think I have come across some folks mentioning that it is possible to make an application 6 months before the 5 years residence expires, is this a fact?

Many thanks for your responses.

Application for what? Permanent Residence or Irish Citizenship?
Also how have you been supporting yourselves? Savings? Social welfare?
...though it tarries, it shall surely come...

Thanks for your reply and apologies for not stating the application that I am making. I intend applying the EU permanent residence as I have been in Ireland for 5 years as the spouse of an EU national.

In relation to your second question, We both worked for about 2 years till we lost our jobs but we have been studying since then and my spouse has been recieving the back to education allowance which essentially is a social welfare payment. Hope that clarifies your query.
