Changing employer on Work Permit

Post by crint » Sun Jul 02, 2006 2:07 pm

Hi all. I've had a read through many of the postings, and believe I have found various bits'n'pieces that provide an answer to my query, however I thought I would make a posting to ask specifically anyway...

I am currently working in the UK on a Work Permit. However, I am currently considering looking for a new job elsewhere in the UK. What are my options with changing employers when on a work permit?

I believe any new employer would have to apply for a brand new WP and Leave to Remain, incurring the normal costs associate with a first application - is this correct? Are there any other options, other than changing visa (as I don't qualify for HSMP)?

Many thanks,
Crint

Yes, they have to apply for a new work permit and you need a new visa (Leave to Remain), there is no way around this.

If you are going to be doing the same job with a new company then the process is much simpler than an initial application - no advertising details are needed and they don't need to see your qualifications again.
