Infant UK VISA

Post by humty » Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:26 pm

Hi,

I am on Tier2 VISA in the UK for the past 1 year, My son was born here 3months ago, I have got his Indian passport. Now I have to apply for his UK Dependent VISA.

Home office had confused me...since he will be applying only for the dependant VISA who is "Main Applicant", I think its me they say its my son. Can someone please confirm

Any help will be apprecaited.

Thanks,

The person who is applying for leave .... your child if the application is for him only.

If he is the main applicant then who is the dependant?

When the application is on behalf of the child (and no one else) - the child is the main applicant (without any dependant).

Do not confuse main applicant with main migrant.

Ok, My new born baby have the VISA now. In order to help others in similar category here is what I have done.

As per the suggestion given above I decided to go against it as my mind & heart did not allow that for the simple reason “If I make him the Main applicant then who is the dependantâ€

dont confuse yourself with the laguage. its irrelevant. Whether you call yourself main applicant or anything else, common sense alone can guide you on how to fill that form (for your child)
The correct language will be to consider the the tier 2 holder as the sponsor and the infant as the dependent. So whoever fills that form (even the mother or any guidian if the infant was applying from outside UK) they can sign it for the kid, and enclose "Supporting documents" relevant to the sponsor (main migrant) and also filling in details about the sponsor as necessary, still leave will be granted.
