TIMELINE AFTER NATURALISATION APPLICATION SUBMISSION

Just spoke to a friend of mine who applied under work permit category plus 1 year ILR along with his wife and one minor on 17th Feb 2011 VIA NCS. HO received it on 20th Feb, and he got acknowledged towards the end of feb. Since than he has not heard any thing. HO say when he called yesterday is the application is in the que to be picked up by case worker and can take upto 6 months This is torture

Can we able to get the tracking number from Council -NCS dept ?
I tried twice and they informed that they will get back to me, but no response till now..

they suppose to give you tracking number on the day of submission. If not then you must carry on trying to get it from them.

One of the reasons for the delays could be the training the case workers had to go through prior to the new rules kicking in on the 6th of April.

I think the caseworkers are not segregated into fixed teams, so have to be aware of all the new immigration rules.


I could go on speculating on the reasons, but the best thing to do is to wait till we hear something back from the Home Office. we have waited enough to get to this stage anyways.

Just rang HO, the friendly chap at the other end of the phone suggested, its awaiting to be picked up by a caseworker and its not been yet looked into.

I guess, it depends what caseworker gets it and how quick (s)he is and make a descision. So i think there is no point until it gets picked up by the caseworker and then the checks etc... so all we can do is wait.....

I'm prepared to wait, but my concern is that this is a collective issue, which is not related to specific cases. I mean, in this forum alone, the percentage of those whose applications is yet to be picked up is very near 100% This means, however busy they might be, at least they should be able to finish up 2 out of 10 cases every week, but we're not even hearing nada....

I hope they are not consciously witholding applications until after the royal wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no, they don't do any checks visible via Credit Reference Agencies
firstly, to perform credit check you would need to give a permission
secondly, you don't apply for credit related product
thirdly, why would they be interested in your relationships with private (and often foreign) companies?
as for checking CCJs, court orders and fines, there is TrustOnline public database where anyone can search for and be searched by anyone without subject's permission http://www.trustonline.org.uk/

How reliable is the info from Trustonline? I've done my checks and nothing came back from them.....I hope I'm not getting paranoid now

I used trustonline about a month ago and paid 20 quid for searches in England and wales for orders & Judgements , high court judgements and fine defaults. Every thing was clear. I think we are all getting paranoid

I have an account with Experian and there is a section in there to check about CCJs and stuff. Do you think there would be any different information on the 'Trustonline' search? I mean is it worth paying again on Trustonline just to double check??

I wonder if this information (ie how many applications were received, reviewed, rejected/approved etc etc for each months starting January this year till April ) can be requested under Freedom of Information Act

I was also in same dilemma as you about CCJ and Bad Credit although i have subscribed for experian which clearly said no CCJ or bad credit in my history.

I was tempted to check Trustonline by paying (£16) which i did and got confirmation that they have "no record"

Its my suggestion dont waste your money with trustonline as long your experian credit shows clear then it should be fine. I assume you dont have any doggy past.

Good luck with your naturalization application and i can understand your anxiety becoz i went through the same process in march 2011.

As one of the civil servants myself, I have seen 100's and 1000's of redundancies accross all the government departments. I do not know of a single department that has been spared from the funding cuts.

I think several departments within HO are in the same situation and the workload has to be shared by the the remaining ones.

I quite strongly believe that due to this situation and holidays etc... the timescales have doubled.

My wife's application was sent by post on 29/03/2011 and reached HO on 30/03/2011. Credit card was debited on 06/04/2011. First the available money to spend on the credit card will get reduced by the amount taken by the HO before you directly see the amount taken away from the credit card. On 06/04/2011, we noticed the available amount to be spent got reduced by £780. On 08/04/2011 only it was directly mentioned that £780 was paid to the HO, dated 06/04/2011. So check the available amount in your credit card to be spent.

In the acknowledgement letter, in the UK Border Agency address (top corner), it has been mentioned as 'North West Region' in the second line. I hope this may be different for those applying from different areas. I don't know whether this may have any effect on how long it takes to process the application depending on the amount of application from different areas.

I did check my credit card details just now, it is still the same.....any way will give it some more time.....just bit anxious. Called HO as well, automated message there is a delay in sending acknowledgement.

I applied on 01/04 via NCS and the application reached on 04/04. My account has not been debited until this moment. Guess our applications will be processed during the same period- do keep posting updates.

I live in West Midlands, the Ack letter that I received mentions North West as well
