Permanent Residence and Benefits

Post by mary1028 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:23 pm

Hello All,

I'm an EU national working in the UK. I'm due to apply for permanent residence next year, however if I apply for benefits(public funds) such as housing, child benefit etc will it, in any way negatively affect my application for permanent residence.

I look forward to your thoughts and comments.

Thank You

Thanks for your reply,

However, I am aware that in the case of residence cards, the Home Office will establish whether the applicant has been a burden on public funds, although I have no intention of becoming a burden on the public purse( I'm on maternity leave and my husband has been made redundant), I would like to cover all my bases.

I would be grateful if someone could kindly shed light on whether or not claiming benefits will have any negative impact on my application for permanent residence.

Thanks Again.
