Working with Tier4 , out of term time

Post by vader666 » Thu Apr 14, 2011 2:16 am

Hi ,

As it writes on the visa , we cant work more than 20 hours weekly during term times.

But I guess we can work fulltime outside of term times , is that correct ?

Also regarding term times , what does it actually mean ?

Does it refer to continuing classes ? For example , what about dissertation studies period or personal studies period in which there are no classes but we are assesed with individual projects

thanks in advance

Your college or university will define when your term time dates are as this may be different for different courses. However if you are writing your dissertation or working on projects your are still in term time it is not just about attending classes, and therefore cannot work more than 20 hours per week during those periods. Yes outside of term time and at the end of your course you can work full time.

Ok I will hand in my dissertation on 29th of September and my current Tier4 is valid till February 2012

But I will get my MSc diploma on mid November , as you know I need that diploma to be able to apply Tier1 PSW visa.

So from what I understand , as soon as I hand in my dissertation
I can start working till February 2012 with my current Tier4

but ofcourse to be eligible to work again , I need to get Tier1 PSW visa before February 2012

What would you suggest ?

I think, you should be OK!!

I think you should work full-time, only for your last 4 months, not more than that.

Ok lets assume that I started working as a fulltime employee after 29th of September , than I will be applying for Tier1PSW as soon as I get my MSc diploma

What will my status be till I get the Tier1PSW ? In that waiting period am I still eligible to work ?

When you make an in time application to extend or switch your leave your rights and entitlements remain the same until the application is decided.
