unmarried partner previous relationship

Post by newbie11 » Sun Apr 17, 2011 7:25 pm

Hi,

I'm finalising my FLR(M) application as an unmarried partner - my partner was previously married in 2002 but divorced a year later. On the application form, I can see he would need to tick previously married in section 7, but in section 11 it only seems to require people applying for spouse or civil partner in 11b (i.e. not those applying for unmarried, which is 11c) to have a document showing the divorce. So, I'm thinking this means we don't need to have a divorce document with our application, as we are going for unmarried partners and not spouse. Can anyone confirm this is right?

I don't want to end up missing anything out!

Thanks for your help!

The unmarried partner rule was originally designed for people who could not or were not divorced so yes it is correct that you don't need to provide the divorce certificate but theres no harm providing it if he has it.

Why not include it anyway?

The worst they can do is ignore it if it is there.
