Schengen Ban

Hi everyone!! I have been told by immigration official that i have a ban on my name to enterr schengen zone. I had overstayed my student permit (american student). due to work i have to pass through there to get to another non schengen country, can i get into the country for a few days if i present a "in transit" ticket?? Thank you for any input !
