Ok, so the story is this. My partner went to the Italian vias agency yesterday for a visa for us to travel to Italy on holiday. Usually when we travel to Europe he has a Schengen visa, but because we have had a son since our last holiday the agency told us we could apply for a visa through using our son, who is a dependant of my partner. The problem was, i was not at this meeting and could not ask the questions i wanted to. The lady could not tell my partner under what right he could apply for such a visa and she couldn't tell him the name of it. She also told him that she thought that the visa might be multiple entry and if he were to travel again he would be able to do so without my son. This did not ring true to me so I just wanted to see what information I could find out. He applied for this visa because it is free. It would seem that he has got the right to apply for this visa. However, as Colombia is a black listed country it is possible that it might be refused under the grounds of 'National Security'. But he does already have a 5 year visa for the U.S, so that might work in our favour. I doubt that it will be for multiple entry and he most certainly will not be able to travel without our son. With that, I wish that he had just applied for the Schengen visa as he had another trip vaguely planned to Italy later in the summer and will have to apply for another visa later on! Many thanks for your help, if there is anything you can add then please clarify for me. This is a brilliant website that I am sure to use again!
