father sponsor to uk

Post by amishshah7 » Fri Apr 22, 2011 7:10 pm

Hi Everyone,

Please can somebody give me advice!!

I am an Indian and I got married to British Citizen in July 2008. I came to UK in Oct 2008. In Oct 2010 I got my ILR/Permanent Residency. Me and my wife have just purchased a new 3 bedroom home on mortgage. Me and my wife are both working fulltime and earn decent salary. My mother from India have just joined us in UK and she is living with us. My mother has British Citizenship. Now I wish to call my father from India to live with us. My father has Indian passport. My mother is looking for job so that she can sponsor my father from India. However she cant get any job here.

So I am wondering if I can sponsor my father to come and settle here in UK. Which visa application I need to consider for that?

See also 3rd party support and accommodation, for information which I think may be useful in determining if your mother can sponsor your father (as her spouse).

So if I provide accomodation and support letter for my dad, then can my mom sponsor him and apply as spouse visa. I guess spouse visa with me providing supoort of accomodation and other expenses will make case stronger than applying as family/elderly dependant. My dad is under 65 yrs old.

Your Mum applying for his Spouse visa with you offering financial support and accommodation would seem to be the best option.

Thanks for the responses.

If my mum applies for his Spouse visa and me offering financial support and accommodation, then does my mum need to have job? what if she manages to find one but it is temporary job? And how much monet she should be earning?.

If you're providing the financial support then her employment isn't crucial.

Few queries if you can please bear with me.

1) Application form I need to use is vaf4a?
2) I myself had filled up this application when I came to uk on spouse visa. However please can you tell me what documents I will need to submit to prove that I can support my dad financially and can provide accomodation?
3) Does my dad need to avoid releaving his finances in India to show like he is dependant on me? He is retired now but was working till Oct2010 in bank as clerk.
4) I guess with my mum having British nationality and British passport and she had worked previously in UK in 2003 and 2008 for around 8 months, my case to sponsor dad should be smooth?

If you're providing 3rd party financial support it doesn't matter whether your father has savings. He's won't be your dependent as he's entering as your mother's spouse. You're ensuring there will be sufficient finance available in order that your parents won't need to claim Public Funds (benefits) once your father arrives.
Your father's savings should actually strengthen the application as spouse.
Remember that you mother is the sponsor as his spouse...not you.
The application form is VAF4a. Your father will have to pass the new A1 English test before he submits the application.

in this case will my dad face problems after he gets PR/British passport like right to claim job seeker allowance and other benefits which normal British citizen gets? Will UK governing body will say that he will not be entitled to any benefits even after he gets ILR/PR since I as his financial support should take care of my dad?
