2.5 year-long PSW!?!

Post by coco__nutty » Tue Apr 26, 2011 4:11 pm

Can I just check... is this a fluke, or do they actually issue the PSW visa from the day they stamp your passport, not the date your previous visa ends?

I submitted my application in October 2010, got rejected and eventually won an appeal in March. My visa arrived last week, but I only noticed today that it isnt till end of October 2012, which would have been 2 years, but till April 2013, which is 2.5 years!

Anyone got thoughts/information on this?
Just curious... either way this is very welcome!

It's not a fluke. They issue it two years from the date they issue your visa, not from when you originally applied.

Aaah, thanks! I was under impression they dont give you ANY extra time and the time starts the day after your old visa ends.
This is great though... due to their carry on, I got myself 6 months :)

if it were the other way around then it would not be fair - although you have the extra 6 months your leave has been uncertain and you have been subject to Tier 4/student rules. Some employers would hesitate to employ someone on 3C leave.

Hmmm, as things stand at the moment though, I wouldn't be surprized if HO disregarded 'fairness' and just did it their way.
I guess I was lucky, I've been employed the whole time and with some awesome companies too!.

Glad it's all behind me now of course and looking forward to the future ;)

Just as a word of caution, during your appeal you should not have filled any permanent position, thats illegal :)

My position was not permanent :)
I worked as a 'Contractor' through an in-house agency on a week's notice..

But thanks for the word of caution
