Query regarding maintenence funds for PSW dependent

Post by rm_visa » Fri Apr 29, 2011 2:01 am

Hi,

I have been in the UK for 1.5 years now. From Sep 2009 - Sep 2010, I was on Tier 4 student visa and I have been on Tier 1 PSW after that. My wife is now applying for a Tier 1 PSW dependent visa and I am a little confused on how much maintenance funds I am supposed to show.

By my understanding, I have to show £800 (for myself) + £533 (for my wife). Is this correct? I think it is but I read some random posts over the internet and they confused me.

I have been in the UK for more than 12 months but I have been on Tier 1 PSW for only 6 months. So should I be showing £533 for my wife's maintenance or £1600?

Thank you for your help.

The rules do not say that you have to on PSW visa for 12months or more it just says the main applicant present in the UK for 12 months or more.

so it should be 533 for your wife then, but alot of people on the forum have told on the forum that their applications have been refused bcos main applicants funds were not present. EMAIL UKBA and get their answer to go along with the application
or if you have money maintain 800+533

Thank you for your prompt reply. To be on the safe side, I will try and maintain 800+533.

On this forum, I am seeing many cases of dependent visas being refused because of subsistence proof. Are there any suggestions on what I can do to convince the visa officer in this regard?

We got married more than 2 years ago and my wife is currently residing in a mainland European country. Along with the marriage certificate, I can provide copies of my passport which shows multiple schengen visas and immigration stamps from the airport of her current city. She has visited me a few times in UK in the past year as well and her passport has corresponding immigration stamps.

Would this be enough? What else can I provide? I can't provide any phone bills as I use a prepaid calling card...

Any advice will be very helpful...

If you cannot provide phone bills, then you could use a covering letter to explain that you use prepaid card and phone bill will show you the number to the calling card company, this should be enough, if u've got any photographs taken while u went there or she being here, you could use that, but I believe those visa stamps to her country and she coming to the UK could be enough.

If they have issued her a visa in the past, shouldn't be really much of a problem.
