help needed regarding funds required in account

Post by nramani » Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:20 pm

Hello,

You can actually laugh at the situation I am in.
I was awarded my bachelors degree on June 2, 2010. I understand that I need to make an application before June 2, 2011. I'm in the USA now and want to make an application from here. Now the requirement is to show £2,800 (pounds) in my account for 90 days. Here is where I made a big blunder. I somehow read it was $2,800 (dollars) ( :(... I don't know what I was thinking) and I made arrangements to keep that in my account. I have all the documents and the application is ready too. But I'm not sure if I can apply. Can I show a sponsor's (my mother) account with sufficient funds in it? Am I correct in thinking that it is the requirement of applying from US is £2,800 (pounds).
I would appreciate it if someone can help me.

Yes you have to show 2800pounds not dollars, As per the policy guidance there is no provision to use your parents account, you should provide your own account or use a joint account.

If you have a joint account you could use that!

So if I'm applying from the US, can I show statements of my own bank account in India with sufficient funds? Does it have to be an account in the US?

The account just needs to be in your name, anywhere in the world :D, the rules do not say that it has to be an account from the country where the application is made.
