Visitor visa while waiting for OCI?

I have applied for OCI and got the acknowledgment. But it seems it will another 4-5 months befoe I get the VISA. Meanwhile can I get visitor visa to visit India?

Yes you can and if you dont get OCI in time you have to do that, you have to apply to visa using vfs servicese

If you have 5-6 weeks before you travel, may be its worth waiting as recently many people here have got OCI in less time compared what it used to take.
