Do we apply for both EEA1 and 2 at the same time?

Hello all,
I used these boards a while back to get help with my immigration to the UK.
I am an American citizen who is married to an Irish National living and working in the UK. I entered the Uk in April of this year. After moving and getting things situated it is time for us to start the Application for EEA2. I have been reading the boards and it looks like she may need to apply for a residence card as well. It looks like the EEA1 form.
My question is basically, do we send both forms together or separate? Or do we need to apply for her card first? Or not bother at all with a residence card for her?
Lots of questions I know. We are traveling to Ireland next week to visit her family before getting the forms and documents together. I understand this is a lengthy application. Hence one more visit to Ireland before surrendering both of our passports.

She does not need to apply for anything - there is not really any point that I know of. At one point some people on this board had a theory that Residence Card applications got processed more quickly if the EU spouse also submitted their application for confirmation of residence, but UKBA is finally processing Residence Card applications more quickly.

Is your wife working in the UK? If so you will only need to submit your passports, your marriage certificate and proof that she is working (like a pay slip or letter from her employer). The rest of the stuff they ask for (using very carefully written language) is not needed.

Do you have an EEA Family Permit? If so than you can start working in the UK immediately.

The moment I submitted the post I realized I had not mentioned that I do indeed have an EEA family permit (6 months from April 4th). My wife is indeed working at the moment. The past month I have been moving us into and unpacking a flat. Once we return from Ireland (15th of May I think) I will begin looking for work. It should not be too difficult for me to find a job in London as I am a Bar worker by trade. She makes more than enough money to support us both if by chance I am unable to find a job before we get the application off. I should be able to provide evidence of job seeking though as I will be applying through emails and gumtree.

Thank you so much for your speedy reply. I did not realize that was all of the documents we would need to send off. During the last application I sent them overkill which they didn't look at all of (they told me that our Wedding Cert. was not included which I found inside other documents in the return package) so I scanned another copy and emailed it to them.

You do not need to provide evidence of job seeking. It is 120% irrelevant for a Residence Card application. You do not need to provide evidence of your previous work, or your finances.

All that matters is that the EU citizen is working and that you are a family member of hers. Nothing else matters in this case, unless you are a threat to national security, public policy, or have a big contagious health problem.

They ask for all kinds of things on the Residence Card application which are irrelevant in your case. You can just ignore them. They have designed the form to be used for all the different types of thing the EU citizen could be doing: your application is SIMPLE because your spouse works.

I would personally not tell them how much money you or your wife have in the bank account. No way!

If your wife is working, then just send in the application right away (after using your passports to travel).

Be sure to send everything by Special Delivery so that it is more securely handled and tracked. And keep copies of EVERYTHING.
