Lost passport with Tier 1 visa

Post by ankur2004 » Tue May 03, 2011 1:05 pm

Hi,

I was traveling from Brussels and Amsterdam and lost my passport on the train. Due to conflicting information, I got an Emergency Certificate issued and came back to India to apply for a new passport and get a replacement visa stamped.

Now that I have applied for a new passport inplace of the lost one, I am not able to get proper information regarding issue of a replacement visa. VFS people are not able to provide me with information and attempts of contacting the BHC on 24100020 have been unsuccessful. Has anyone else got any recent similar experience and can kindly share the details of the process involved?

I was supposed to report back to work after the holidays and now I am stuck :(

Thanks for all your help.

My passport lost by home office, well post never received to my end.

I have to get new passport, in London, and sent it to home office, and they re issued me visa. So I am not sure procedure outside uk. But you may have to fill same application form for lost passports [search on ukba website] and send it to home office india,

Thanks guys for the information.

I have not been able to get a response from BHC yet. VFS have understood the problem and are trying to seek some clarification from the BHC on how to accept my application. The main point of contention is what fees to take as the Tier 1 General new application doesnt exist anymore and a vignette replacement fees is same as a new application for the visa being replaced. I am just hoping they find it soon.

I finally managed to get a replacement visa. I used to previously have the Residence Permit type of visa as I had applied for tier 1 in the uk and now I have been issued an Entry Clearance type. The valid from is from the current date although the expiry date is same as that of the previous visa. While applying for extension will this be considered as a new visa issued or the extension will be based on the previous visa?
