Non point based WP dependent to Tier1

Post by tarunbhatia82 » Thu May 05, 2011 10:25 am

Hi,

I'm on non point based WP issued in mid 2008 and currently working in UK. I have following questions if you could help.

1. Can I switch from non-points based WP to Tier1 (General).
2. If yes and if I do not qualify with enough points. Can my wife who is holding non-points based WP dependent visa, she apply for Tier1 (General) visa.
3. If she can, how much time she need to spend in UK before applying. She arrived a month back.

Thanks,
Tarun

As of April 6th this year, Tier 1 General is now closed to all new applications. So:

1. No
2 & 3. Not applicable since 1 is No.

Are you 100% sure cos I read on UKBA website. Anyone present in UK can still apply for switch from one category to another.

A million% sure ... as of 06-Apr-11 no one can apply for / switch to Tier 1 (General)!

That a dependant cannot "switch" to PBS category is another fact.
