Questions Regarding same day Appointment for FLR?

Post by MarioSA » Tue Jul 11, 2006 10:56 am

What Kind of questions are asked at the interview in Croyden when Applying for FLR (IED) ?

How Long does the interview take?

Has anybody here produced copies of their Bank Statements instead of the original?

Are you applying for FLR (IED) based on HSMP or work permit?

At the moment applications for FLR based on HSMP can only applied for by post and not in person.

Otherwise all information about the interview can be found here:

In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

I'm currently on a work permit having been transferred from another company after 4 years. Yes, I just missed the ILR by 1 month. I was due to apply on 6th May.

I had to cancel my mortgage application as it was totally dependant on my wife and I getting our ILR. This means another year of insecurity and payment of somebody else’s mortgage. A total loss of £12,480.00 for accommodation that should have been paid onto a bond/mortgage.

I cannot help but feel animosity towards the current government for treating us so poorly.

And this government talks of integration.......

I totally understand your frustration about the current ILR situation, however ILR is definitely not a prerequisite for obtaining a mortgage in the UK. I know many work permit holders who have quite easily obtained mortgages and there are many stories on this board of work permit holders who have done so.

There are many mortgage companies out there who will be quite happy to have your business on a work permit.

Maybe they'll have my business but at a higher Apr due to risk.

Also, the insecurity this government has created by moving the goal posts are very stressing. What's to stop them from changing the rules each year?

Where's the fairness in all of this.

Actually, you may not be losing as much as you think. Over the next twelve months your £1,000 per month mortgage would likely have been £900 pm in interest. You're "losing" £100 x 12 = £1,200, not £12,000.

If prices fall over the next few months - as is predicted by many "experts" - this "poor treatment" by the government could end up "saving" you more than £10,000. Would you still complain?

The problem with over-reacting is that though it may give you some satisfaction from playing the victim it distances you from the very goal you want to reach. Consider that ILR is not a prerequisite, as Dawie suggests, and spend your time constructively: go look for a different mortgage without whining about an additional 0.01% per annum in interest. Who knows, you may even find something cheaper than the first deal.

Animosity, too, is completely worthless, can't be banked, and doesn't contribute towards your home ownership.

Get used to it. It's called Life.

I'd also add - to bring it back to the original post - that when IND ask for specific documents they generally mean originals - not photocopies. If they're not familiar with Photoshop, they must have heard of Snopake...
