HOW MANY SPONSORS..

Good evening, i am about to embark on the whole settlement visa for my husband. I don't want to leave our application open to refusal on maintenance so as my mother has very healthy bank accounts and excess income i need some advice on how to include her as a joint/3rd party sponsor. Do i have to be the main sponsor and just get her to write a letter or does she need to be named on the application form. fingers crossed someone will come along and help me with this one.

You have to be the main sponsor of the applicant.

In the accompanying sponsorship letter you need to outline what and why your mother is helping you with the funds and accommodation (if that apply's too).

However you will need to show that you at least work, and be able to support your partner in the future if and when they come here.

The ECO will probably refuse you if you are wholly dependent on your parents for everything.

thanks for your response. I work part time and own my own home. I'm just keep reading about this excess income after bills are paid and i only really have around £450 a month to play with after mortgage, council tax, gas etc etc. However my mum said she was happy to show her bank accounts/income etc to show that she has plenty of excess income if they feel mine isn't enough.

It should be enough for you. You need to have a minimum of £105.95 weekly remaining as a couple after rent or mortgage, council tax and any credit/loan repayments have been met.
